BBYO International Convention in Denver
We were asked to come back to live stream the BBYO International Convention again this year over President’s Day weekend in Denver, Colorado.
If you happen to be unfamiliar, the BBYO Convention is the “Largest Gathering of Teen Jewish Leaders Worldwide” (BBYO website), with over 5,000 attendees. The event allows for learning tracks & leadership, speaking engagements, idea creation, community involvement, music, and fellowship with other teens.
This was by far our largest and farthest job as it took place 1,700 miles away. We loaded up our van and set out, just two of us, to live stream this important event.
Even though the event itself was 5 days, we left for 7 to give us time for pre-production preparations. The BBYO Convention was so large that we actually had two separate live streaming locations. One was at the Bellco Theatre, which held the opening ceremonies and plenary sessions. The other was an area in the convention center where a daily news program that was hosted by teenagers attending the convention was being produced.
The Set Up:
Both Rooms- The NewTek TriCaster TC1
News Set- 6 HD Cameras
Bellco Theatre- 5 HD Cameras
While this was our most complicated project to date, our hard work paid off! Over the course of the 5 day convention, we were able to live stream 7 shows, for a total of 9 hours. By the end of the week long event, our broadcasts had 166,000+ minutes viewed, 50,000+ video views, 65,000+ reach, and 5,200+ engagements.
